The ASAIB Annual Conference, Signposts to Knowledge: Indexing in the 21st Century, was held on 14 and 15 April 2003 in Cape Town. The conference was organised by the Western Cape Branch of ASAIB.

ASAIB awaits entries for the best index published in the Southern African region during 2000-2002. Indexes must be submitted before the end of July 2003. Please accompany your entry with the official ASAIB

A founding meeting for the KwaZulu Natal Branch of ASAIB was held on Wednesday, 16 April 2003 at 17:30, Unisa Campus Durban. Congratulations to Ms Umashanie Reddy, the KwaZulu-Natal representative.

The October 2002 issue of The Indexer (Volume 23, Number 2) was edited by the ASAIB Chairperson, Marlene Burger. It contains nine very informative articles by South Africans. Please note that Mr JC Theron (ASAIB) was appointed the Around the World (features in every issue of The Indexer) editor – for all news items and information on recent and forthcoming events in the indexing world, please contact him therojc@unisa.ac.za

In 2004 ASAIB will be ten years old. We are planning a gala conference with many interesting speakers.
